Biography

Māori Artist & Printmaker

I graduated with a Bachelor in Applied Arts – Visual from NorthTec Whangarei in 2006. I spent 7 years working in the graphic design industry until I started managing Te Kowhai Print Trust an open-access print studio in 2013 and my love for print flourished.

Print, paper, ink and design have always been a love of mine and Te Kowhai Print Trust brought that all together for me. Printmaking has become my passion.

My art is very much influenced by my Māori heritage and tends to deal with the concepts of home, whakapapa, ukaipo, turangawaewae, the whenua and our environment. Of finding our place in our own world and the spiritual connectedness we can feel with certain landmarks, how they affect our wairua and our cultural identity.
